Local Art Walk

BJ Witz

I have been painting for 25+ years starting with acrylics, but moving to watercolors a few years ago. I have been a docent and patron of Oceanside Museum of Art for many years. When I lived in Oceanside I was Chair of the Oceanside Art Commission and helped bring many public works of art to different locations in the city. A few years ago I painted a number of wooden chairs with colorful animals and scenes and sold them in a one-woman show called "Chairs for Charity" at my husband's office, Century 21 Mission which is now participating in Artwalk! The proceeds all went to the buyer's choice of charity!

Cory Patterson

Cory Patterson is a photographer at heart, who is absolutely and completely enthusiastic about his work. He lives in Ca. and thrives in capturing the artistic beauty of life and landscapes, and also brilliantly photographs high-fashion. Shooting 35mm, medium format and digital, he certainly has the knack for taking a perfect picture.

Practicing photography for 16 years, Cory is always brainstorming and dreaming of what’s next. He does not compromise his ability to get the best shot. The camera is his tool and he wants nothing more than to capture life-as-it-happens photographs that are more than pleasing to the eye, but also fiercely expressive, creative, sublime.

Feel free to contact him for booking info at corypattersonphoto@gmail.com

Photography is about documenting the world around you. We make pictures to help others see things differently. People tend to naturally overlook the obvious. But there are real stories in those moments. Surf photography brings people closer to the ocean. It helps others pay more attention. Seeing things with their heart. Focusing on detail. Drawing us closer into the now.

Photographs must connect us emotionally. They need to generate ideas about beauty. I photograph the surf because it is healing and continuous. The ebb and flow of life. Draining us away, rising above the challenge, I am inspired by ocean moments because being near it is the greatest thing. My goal is to make surf photographs with intention. And hopefully inspire others to do the same.

Joe Vickers

My name is Joe, and I am a surfer and artist here in Southern California.

I was born and raised in Florida, where my love for the ocean first began. As a kid, I spent my free time surfing, fishing, diving… anything that brought me near the water. I also loved drawing, and was constantly experimenting with different styles. When I later moved to California, the Pacific Coast inspired me to join my passions of ocean and art. I have since developed my own surf art style, using mixed media to create unique combinations of lines and color.

Currently, I live in Orange County with my wife, daughters and puppy. I feel incredibly lucky to be sharing my art with you.

Jesse Kerr

Rooted in San Diego, California. Currently living and working in Encinitas, Ca. Also lived and worked in Los Angeles and Berlin, Germany.

Drawing is my foundation. I love to draw, always have, always will. Through drawing and painting, my artwork often explores relationships and tension points I see in our modern environment; such as my own connection and simultaneous disconnection to nature, humans & nature, money vs. nature, as well as observations of man-made environments, technology, and culture, in relation to the natural world.

George Hullenbaugh

Just got into oil painting a few months ago. Right now I enjoy painting portraits and painting in different hues of red. For the past few months I have been obsessed with the different styles of layering a thinning oil. Oil is definitely a different beast. Looking to hang a few of my painting up rather than store them a top my secretaries. A bad habit I have is between waiting for oils to dry I start a new painting. Constantly there is a circle of paintings in rotation. My favorite artist is Michael Hussar. His oil paintings are fa-nominal.
